Scientist believe that we carry genes from our ancestors but also many spiritual teachers believe that we have lived many lives… That would explain why I got goose bumps all over me when I was listening to Aris Sotiriou’s story in reviving the past through his super elegant, beautiful vintage brand! A past that nor he nor I have lived… The past where everything was made with elegance, detail, style, class and most of all with bare hands…using tools and machines without electricity but just bare hands! Aris Sotiriou is man with a strong sense of longing for quality and style… he made me feel as if I was living in the 20-30’s, as if I had time travelled and I suddenly felling blissful and at home… A feeling I had when watching Julie & Julia…
Aris Sotiriou is a rare kind of person… he is living fully in the present and our technology era as he is an IT developer for 2000 and for the past 14 years working as a software and analyst in Eurobank, one of the largest banks in Greece. But as he says that is his day job, were the rest of his time he becomes a designer and an artist; something that expresses his soul! As a young child, he remembers himself making things out of paper and loved everything to do with designing and creativity. But 90’s was all about technology and IT, and so he chose to be an IT specialist. A few years ago, wanting to get back in touch with his heart’s desire, he started a blog with all the things he loved. At first, he decided to make sweets and cakes with healthy ingredients but later to realize that he couldn't keep going and making new recipes! As a perfectionist that he is, he quickly came to understand that what made a huge difference was the pictures and so he bought his first professional camera and experienced with it until, well you should see for your selves…as you will truly fall in love with his work! To tell you the truth everything he does is exceptional in quality, style, beauty and perfection, no-matter what your style and taste is! And after came another beautiful idea… making what he used-to as a child; designing products from paper! Using old printing machines where he picked each one with love from antique shops! He makes everything and I mean absolutely everything on his own...from carving of the platen to binding and making round edges! And with his bare hands operating manual machines that don’t use electricity… just like the old days! You can see his lovely work and order here!
Aris is a dreamer and a romantic… he takes his time perfecting everything he does and loves every step of the way even though he is working 24/7 at two jobs! But as he told me his creations and his beautiful blog/community are like a university to him! He says he has created his own University with all the things he loves! You should truly listen to the way he speaks, just his voice and his spirit make you day dream...
