What does “Positivity” mean to you?
The ability to generate hope in the face of difficult situations, the tenacity to hold on to the belief that everything will fall in place and to be able to infuse that feeling in others as well so that the bonhomie of good cheer can spread like a contagious yawn and inspire people to strive to do good, that is Positivity for me. I am proficient in Reiki, a Japanese healing technique which I practise to rejuvenate myself and those around me. I have been practising it for the last “20+” years and attained 3rd level which is its highest level in the field of Reiki. In this odyssey of Life, I hope that not just by Reiki, but also by nurturing a positive outlook I can work towards a society based on value creation and give back positivity to as many people as I can!
Please specify 3 things that you do to regain your positivity and your strengths after a disappointment at work/life?
1. I read a lot of spiritual books which recharges my soul and I am able to maintain a steady stream of positive affirmations in my thought process.
2. I am also fortunate to have a creative streak in me that keeps me on my toes emotionally & mentally. As long as new ideas germinate in my mind, it keeps me upbeat and in a high life state.
3. Helping others is cathartic for me. When I lend a listening ear to the problems of people, in providing that healing touch, I feel a flush of positive energy sweeping over me. To able to uplift the spirits of not just friends, but anybody who might be having a bad day is a means of rebuilding my reservoir of good vibes.
How important is it to stay positive in achieving your goals?
I have fostered a positive attitude within me, which has been the fuelling force to think better- Plan better- and aim for bigger goals in life- even if some situations in life are not as per your expectations (blessed to have only a very few such situations in my life). Generous doses of positivity is what keeps me from feeling demoralised and if I fail at any endeavour, a positive outlook is what gives me the strength to pick myself up and start at it with zeal.
What “Positive Promise” would you like to give?
I run a Facebook Page titled aptly as ‘BELIEVE’ wherein I am gathering momentum for creating a sounding board of collective ideas that resonate with the essence of positive promise. I want these ideas to ripen and explode into concrete action plans. Like the plan I have, of creating a space where the old can juxtapose with the youth in perfect symphony creating a music of their own. A place where I can set up an old age home and a school for the young kids. Where both can exist leaning towards each other in harmony. A place where the old, surrounded by the vibrant vibes of the kids coming to school to study and play, will never feel abandoned and have something to look forward to and the kids in turn will develop empathy and forge lifelong friendships that will give them wisdom that cannot be learnt in the confines of a classroom.
I promise to help a homeless person by providing them with food or cloths for 10 days.
I promise to greet positively 10 people I don’t know.
I promise to visit an elders home and greet and talk with 2 elders I don’t know.
