What does “Positivity” mean to you?
Positivity does not mean to be happy and smile all day. It means to search and find ways to solve our daily life obstacles and challenges including these fundamental ones. People normally face real life crisis situations in two different ways: either they give up, accepting the failure or they work even harder than before and finally they overcome the challenge and reach success. The latter approach is the approach of positive people.
I had my positivity test in 2006. When I suddenly landed at the hospital with stroke symptoms and a few months later I lost my job. But I did not give up! Within 5 months I had another job which was better than the previous one. How did I do it? Believing in myself, being positive about my capabilities and sending dozens of job applications and attending several interviews. Remember that the positive thinking must always be accompanied by hard work to bring results!
This experience taught me one fundamental thing which many business executives simply forget: our health is the most precious asset we have. This learning was a real beginning of my HealthyManagers.com project, which would never have been materialized if I had not been positive in 2006. Be positive and never give up is my motto till today.
Please specify 3 things that you do to regain your positivity and your strengths after a disappointment at work/life?
1. Any kind of exercise which makes me sweat helps me being positive again. It looks as if with the sweat I get rid of all the negativity. Medical experts point out that exercising releases the happiness hormones: endorphins and monoamines!
2. Praying or Meditating: clears my mind and gives me hope again. An evening prayer is also a great way to have a restful sleep. In the morning, I wake up as a new person with a lot of energy to start a new working day!
3. Being with people I love: with my spouse and with my two wonderful kids. Their presence calms my mind and makes me happy again. I always emphasize that being in healthy and loving relationships makes you more productive at work and extends your life expectancy!
How important is it to stay positive in achieving your goals?
I may surprise you by saying that you can achieve your goals and be successful even if you are negative. I know such people. Some business organizations tolerate or even promote negative or even toxic executives.
But the success of the negative people is normally short term. They are able neither to enjoy their success nor handle it. They often pay high price for it, too. One negative person I know ended up with cancer and another lost the hearing in one of her ears. These are real stories of negative, but successful people! Look around you and I am sure that you will find other similar examples.
I strongly believe that only bodies of positive people know how to handle the success. Being positive puts your body in a health equilibrium and significantly reduces your stress level. It allows you to achieve your goals easier and later to enjoy your success to the fullest.
What “Positive Promise” would you like to give?
I promise to call 2 friends or family members I haven’t talked for a very long time.

I have spent all my professional career working in different executive positions, but what I want to share with you is my personal story of health turn-around.
In 2006, I considered myself as a healthy person. Like most of the executives I just had a lot of stress, a sitting job and I did not always pay attention to my diet. Then one day I was taken to a hospital with stroke symptoms. I realized how fragile my professional life was.
Today I am in an excellent health condition. After that horrible event, I have spent all the years studying health, fitness and diet and applying this knowledge in my daily managerial practice.
I strongly believe that in order to reach your career goals you need to be in excellent health and top physical form, which does not mean that you should become a professional sportsman or a marathon runner. In 2006, I learned that success without health is not success. Today I am happy to be able to help other executives being healthier, more positive and more successful.
